Dharmagiri Easter Retreat

Dharmagiri Easter Retreat

The Psychology of Awakening

21st - 28th March 2008

Facilitated by Thanissara

Retreat

This retreat will explore the interface of meditation, Buddhist psychology and therapeutic practice. The retreat will be grounded in Buddhist theory and practice and will include periods of meditation, instruction, Dharma talks and discussion. There will also be shared psycho-spiritual exercises and inquiry. These exercises support a more depth inquiry into deeply held beliefs and patternings that shape the sense of self. This aspect of the retreat will explore the territory of relative self and its relationship to the transpersonal which will be inspired by the Karuna work (UK based Buddhist therapeutic training) and the Diamond Heart work (A.H. Almaas). The retreat will also include periods of Chi Kung and some use of simple mantra practice.

Facilitators

Thanissara - Thanissara is a Buddhist practitioner for over 30 years. She studied with many meditation masters and spent 12 years as a Buddhist nun in the Forest School of the Thai master Ajahn Chah. She teaches meditation and Buddhist philosophy internationally and has just completed an MA in Buddhist psychotherapy at the Karuna Institute and Middlesex University in the UK.
