We all carry an identity (or identities) based upon external forces (society, family, ethnicity, education, etc) and internal qualities (temperament, health, sexual orientation etc.).These can complexify and interweave, and although we don’t create them, they come to define who we are. So this ‘me bag’ becomes a basis of our lives; yet it is weighty, needs feeding – and tears quite easily.
Holding the Me-Bag with Kindness retreat offers a practical, heart-centred inquiry into the stories that shape identity. Over the retreat participants will be invited to notice how the “me-bag” — the roles, histories and habits that quietly carry and define us — both supports and limits life. Through guided mindfulness practice, Qi Gong, and devotional chanting, the teachings offer tools to meet these patterns with steadiness, warmth and good humour.
Ajahn will provide clear guidance and compassionate companionship as participants learn how to tend, loosen or set down parts of the bag when needed. Full participation is expected: this is an embodied programme for those ready to practise with honesty, patience and care.
